How to use Bromhexine Hydrochloride: Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Bromhexine Hydrochloride is to be taken with food. Administration: Should be taken with food. Adult Dose: Tablet: Adults: 8-16 mg 3 times daily. Syrup: Adults: The recommended daily dose is 2 to 4 teaspoonful 3 times. Initially 4 teaspoonful 3 times daily and then as required. Child Dose: Tablet: Children over 10 years: 8-16 mg 3 times daily. Children 5-10 years: 4 mg 3 times daily. Syrup: Children: Suggested dosage for children under 2 years is 1/4 teaspoonful 3 times daily, 2-5 years 1/2 teaspoonful 3 times daily 5-10 years 1 teaspoonful 3 times daily.

There are no known significant interactions with other drugs.

Contraindicated to those who are hypersensitive to Bromhexine Hydrochloride.

Common - Irritation of ear - Allergic skin rash - Dizziness - Headache GI side effects; headache, dizziness, sweating, skin rashes. Inhalation: Cough or bronchospasm.

Precaution: History of peptic ulceration; asthmatic patients. Severe hepatic or renal impairment.

Keep in a dry place away from light and heat. Keep out of reach of children.

Cough expectorants & mucolytics

Bromhexine is a mucolytic.

Use in Pregnancy: Special care is recommended during pregnancy. The benefits of bromhexine must be assessed against possible effects on children.Use in Lactation: Bromhexine is expected to enter breast milk. Therefore it is not recommended that bromhexine be taken by lactating mothers.
