spray is indicated in the treatment of tinea infections of the skin. spray is also indicated in the treatment of pityriasis (tinea) versicolor due to Malassezia furfur.
Less than 5% of the dose is absorbed after topical application to humans and systemic exposure is
thus very slight.
spray is applied once or twice daily, depending on the indication. The affected areas should
be cleansed and dried thoroughly before application of Terbinafine
. A sufficient amount of solution
should be applied to wet the treatment area(s) thoroughly.
• Tinea pedis: once a day,1 week
• Tinea corporis/cruris: once a day,1 week
• Pityriasis versicolor: twice a day, 1 week
Relief of clinical symptoms usually occurs within a few days. If there are no signs of improvement
after two weeks the diagnosis should be verified.
contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to terbinafine or to any of the
excipients of terbinafine
or component of the container.
Common side effects are flaking or peeling of the skin, itching (pruritus), redness of the skin
(erythema), burning sensation, pain, application site pain, application site irritation etc.
Animal fetal toxicity studies did not reveal any teratogenic or embryofetotoxic potential of terbinafine.
Nursing mothers should not apply terbinafine topical formulations to the breast.
spray should be used with caution in patients with lesions where alcohol could be irritating.
Spray should not be used on the face. In case of accidental contact with the eyes, rinse eyes
thoroughly with running water.
Terbinafine Hydrochloride works by inhibition of squalene epoxidase enzymes of fungus
which is essential for the formation of ergosterol.
