Contraindicated in patient with a known hypersensitivity to silymarin.
How to use St. John’s Wort:
Take St. John’s Wort in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Take St. John’s Wort orally with plenty of water. Do not chew, crush or break it.
Administration:
Administered only orally as advised by the physician.
Adult Dose:
Take one capsule three times per day, or as prescribed by a doctor.
Child Dose:
Not recommended for children.
Renal Dose:
It should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of St. John’s Wort may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
It interacts with SSRI antidepressants (e.g., fluoxetine, paroxetine), other antidepressants that affect serotonin levels (e.g., nefazodone), and some migraine treatments (e.g., sumatriptan, naratriptan).

Sometimes it cause

- Dry mouth
- Constipation
- Dizziness
It is possible to experience dry mouth, dizziness, constipation, and diarrhea. It is generally safe for most people.
Pregnancy & Lactation Category Note:
It is not recommended to take St. John's Wort while pregnant. Breast-feeding is not recommended while taking this medication due to the potential risk to the infant.
Precaution:
It should be used cautiously with drugs metabolized by Cytochrome P450 and drugs that lower the seizure threshold.
Keep out of reach of the children. Keep away from direct sunlight; store in a cool and dry place.
St. John’s Wort is most commonly used to treat for mild to moderate depression and conditions that sometimes go along with depression such as anxiety, tiredness, loss of appetite and insomnia. The main components of St. John’s Wort are Hypericin and Hyperforin which are responsible for its effects against depression. Although the exact mechanism of action of St. John’s Wort is unknown but it may inhibit the reuptake of Serotonin and Noradrenaline, inhibit Monoamine Oxidase (MAO), up-regulate Serotonin receptor, and reduce depression.
