Specific combined vitamin preparations
Vitamin A is required for the proper function of the retina as well as the growth and development of epithelial tissue.
Vitamin B is necessary for the production and maintenance of coenzyme A. Lipid metabolism, carbohydrate metabolism, tissue respiration, glycogenolysis, and inhibiting the formation of very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) are all dependent on it. Increases the elimination of chylomicron triglycerides from plasma.
Vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin) is needed for normal erythropoiesis, nucleoprotein and myelin synthesis, cell reproduction, and growth; intrinsic factor, a glycoprotein released by the gastric mucosa, is necessary for active absorption of Vitamin B12 from the GI tract. Plays a function in the activation of pyridoxine and the conversion of tryptophan to niacin; essential for appropriate tissue respiration.
Vitamin E is an antioxidant that helps to protect vital cellular components.
Vitamin C is required for the creation of collagen and tissue repair; it also plays a role in oxidation/reduction reactions and other metabolic pathways, such as the synthesis of catecholamines, carnitine, and steroids; and it aids in the conversion of folic acid to folinic acid.
Vitamin D3 is a sterol that is fat-soluble. It is required for the maintenance and management of calcium and phosphate homoeostasis, as well as bone mineralization. Vitamin D is also necessary for strong bones because it helps calcium absorption from the gastrointestinal tract. Furthermore, it promotes the production of bones.
Below 1 year: 9-10 drops (0.3 ml)
1 year and above: 23-25 drops (1.0 ml) once daily or as advised by the physicians.
Patients with haemochromatosis or Wilson's disease should not be given supplemental vitamins. It is not recommended if you are allergic to any of the ingredients. Hypervitaminosis can be caused by taking too much vitamin A and D. Allowance must be made for vitamins obtained from other sources when multivitamin products are provided.
Ordinary amounts of component in multivitamin preparations are usually harmless.
