Betamethasone is an active topical corticosteroid which produces a rapid response in those infammatory dermatoses that are normally responsive to topical corticosteroid therapy, and is often efective in the less responsive conditions such as psoriasis. Neomycin sulphate is a broad spectrum bactericidal antibiotic efective against the majority of bacteria commonly associated with skin infections.
Apply a small amount of Betamethasone + Neomycin Sulphate to the affected area 2 to 3 times daily until you observe improvement. For children, limit the treatment course to 5 days.
The conditions or situations of concern include acne vulgaris, perioral dermatitis, perianal and genital pruritus, primary cutaneous viral infections (such as herpes simplex and chickenpox), as well as hypersensitivity to any component of Betamethasone + Neomycin Sulphate.
Common side effects may include burning, itching, irritation, dryness, folliculitis, hypertrichosis, acneiform eruptions, perioral dermatitis, allergic contact dermatitis, maceration of the skin, secondary infection, skin atrophy, striae, and miliaria.
There have been no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women regarding teratogenic effects from topically applied corticosteroids. Therefore, they should not be used extensively for a prolonged period during pregnancy.
The prolonged use of Betamethasone + Neomycin Sulphate therapy should be minimized, particularly in infants and children. Children up to the age of four should not undergo topical steroid treatment for more than 3 weeks without a medical review.
Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
