Benzoyl peroxide, Azelaic acid & other preparations
Clindamycin is a semi-synthetic derivative of lincomycin. It inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by reversibly binding to the 50S ribosomal subunits thus blocking the transpeptidation or translocation reactions of susceptible organisms. Benzoyl peroxide has mild keratolytic effect and antimicrobial activity which is attributed to its potent oxidizing activity. Clindamycin and Benzoyl peroxide are both active against Propionibacterium acnes, an organism associated with acne vulgaris.
How to use
Clindamycin + Benzoyl Peroxide:
This medicine is for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Clean and dry the affected area and apply the gel. Wash your hands after applying, unless hands are the affected area.
May enhance the action of neuromuscular blocking agents (e.g. atracurium). May antagonise the effects of parasympathomimetics. May competitively inhibit the effects of macrolides, ketolides, streptogramins, linezolid and chloramphenicol. Increased coagulation tests (prothrombin time/INR) and/or bleeding with vit K antagonists (e.g. warfarin, acenocoumarol, fluindione). PABA sunscreens may transiently discolour fabric.
Hypersensitivity to Clindamycin, lincomycin, benzoyl peroxide, or any component of the formulation; history of regional enteritis, ulcerative colitis, pseudomembranous colitis or antibiotic-associated colitis.

Pregnancy Category- C. Animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in humans, but potential benefits may warrant use of the drug in pregnant women despite potential risksLactation: Excretion in milk is unknown/ not recommended
Avoid contact with mouth, eyes, lips & mucous membranes; abraded or eczematous skin. May discolor hair & dyed fabrics. Pregnancy & lactation.
